It all began with something simple — the joy of making children laugh.
There’s nothing quite like hearing a child’s giggle echo through a room, or seeing an older one roll their eyes because I’m being a bit too silly. I love those moments because they open the door to connection. Even when a joke doesn’t land, it creates a spark — a moment to ask, to engage, to connect.
It also helps children relax, open up, and just be themselves. I truly believe that every person is made in The Perfect Image, and I want people to know that and feel seen in that way.
Years ago, I became fascinated by CliniClowns Netherlands. The way they combined empathy, playfulness, and professionalism showed me that humor isn’t just about fun — it’s a powerful form of care. I even dreamed of becoming a medical clown myself in my late thirties. But as life often goes, my path led elsewhere. I already worked as a Communication Skills Trainer and Training Actor and honestly — that’s been an incredible journey in itself.
Then, in 2023, our family moved to South Africa. Once we settled in, that old spark reignited — the dream of healthcare clowning came back to life and simply wouldn’t let go. I reached out to organizations like Clowns Without Borders International and CliniClowns, asked questions and learned about training. After completing my training, I decided it was time to finally follow my dream — and that’s how HappyHealth was born.
HappyHealth has a clear purpose:
To bring laughter, lightness, and joy into hospitals and clinics. Because laughter doesn’t just lift spirits — it heals hearts, eases fear, and makes every hospital day a little brighter.
What we do
At HappyHealth we don’t just visit wards — we join the care journey.
Through play, empathy, and humor, our trained healthcare clown(s) create safe spaces for children to breathe, smile, and feel seen — even in the midst of treatment. We support hospitals in treating the whole patient: body, heart, and mind.
We work alongside medical teams, adapting to their work and rhythm. We believe healing is more than medicine.
We bring color, compassion, and connection to children facing illness — helping them find courage through laughter and play. We don’t perform for patients — we engage with them. Every visit is guided by sensitivity, respect, and the rhythm of the ward.
HappyHealth helps children express emotion, reduce stress, and rediscover joy — even on the hardest days.
Why partner with us:
· Supports emotional well being and recovery of young patients
· Strengthens family connection during hospital stays
· Complementing medical care already provided with focus to big and small hearts.
Together, we can make every ward a place of healing and hope.
About the character - Mousy
When my mother was pregnant with me she knitted a mouse. My first stuffed animal. When I was a little child my father always called me 'Muis' (Mouse) up until I was in my teens. I am not the tallest person and, like a mouse, I am very curious. So coming up with this character wasn't that far fetched.
Mousy is gentle, curious, and full of wonder. She’s a listener and observer first, just like a real mouse — she notices tiny details others miss. She’s looks shy at first, but once you let her in, she’s full of little surprises.
She has a knack for turning quiet moments into connection — making a small sound, a funny face, or a whispered joke that makes children giggle. Her laughter isn’t loud; it’s contagious in a soft, comforting way.
